LinkedIn leak: The next chapter
Yesterday it emerged that LinkedIn, a social network for business and professionals, has been hacked – and 6.5 million hashed passwords have been posted to the internet. LinkedIn confirmed the leak on June 6 2012. At first it said, “we’re still unable to confirm that any security breach has occurred,” but nevertheless provided advice on how to change your password, how to create a strong password, and how to behave securely. Later it confirmed that “some of the passwords that were compromised correspond to LinkedIn accounts.” Interestingly, it added, “affected members who update their passwords and members whose passwords have not been compromised benefit from the enhanced security we just recently put in place, which includes hashing and salting of our current password databases.”protect your data

Telephone numbers and the address of Osita Mba, a revenue solicitor, and his wife, Claudia, were passed on to the criminal investigations unit of Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs last year by a manager, according to documents seen by the Guardian.Shred your documents
